School of Physics & Astronomy Salary: £45,585 - £56,021 per annum Start Date: 1 September 2024, or as soon as possible thereafter

The School of Physics & Astronomy is seeking to recruit a Lecturer in Extrasolar Planets.  We are looking for motivated individuals who develop and lead an independent research programme in astrophysics and deliver high quality, innovative teaching to our well-qualified undergraduate population. The School is internationally recognised for its research (http://www.st-andrews.ac.uk/physics-astronomy/research/) and has been rated top ten in the UK for over twenty years.  

 

We are particularly interested in applicants who complement and extend our current research programmes in extrasolar planets, the detection and characterization of exoplanetary systems and their host stars as well as the physics of planet formation. Applicants should have a strong record of research in astrophysics and some teaching experience, preferably at undergraduate level.

A full curriculum vitae including a list of refereed publications, key conference contributions and contact details for three referees.  

 

A further document of not more than six pages in total that will include:

  • A list of their research achievements to date (one to two pages)
  • A list of their four most significant scientific publications with a summary statement of their originality and significance (max. one page)
  • A statement of the applicant’s vision for their research at St Andrews (one to two pages)
  • A statement of the applicant’s teaching philosophy (max. one page)
  • A statement addressing past and/or potential future contributions to equality, diversity and inclusion through research, teaching and/or service (max. one page)
