Applications are
sought for two Post-doctoral Research Fellows to work with Dr Christine Rauer
conducting research for a British Academy-funded monograph project entitled ‘A
Literary History of Mercia: Scribes, Stories, Scholarship c. 600-1100’. The
post-doctoral Fellows’ primary duties will be to help compile registers of
relevant primary texts and manuscripts, with accompanying bibliographies, and
to prepare this material for publication and dissemination.
The successful
applicants will have (or be near to completion of) a PhD in either Anglo-Saxon
Codicology/Palaeography or Anglo-Saxon History. The aim is to bring
together a post-doctoral team with research expertise in Anglo-Saxon book
production (codicology, manuscript studies, palaeography) and Anglo-Saxon
cultural, political or ecclesiastical history (e.g. charter history, church
history, the history of individual archives, Anglo-Saxon international
relations).
Duration of Post:
part-time, within the period September 2022 – September 2023.
While the
duties described above may be undertaken remotely, it is expected that
successful candidates will be based in the UK for the duration of this
contract.
