Research Fellow - AR2248HM

Applications are invited for a post-doctoral researcher with expertise in image processing or similar computationally focused data analysis techniques who will be tasked with translating and speeding up pre-existing galaxy imaging code for future application to data from the Large Synoptic Survey Telescope (LSST). The successful candidate should have strong computational skills, experience of writing optimized computer programs in python, fortran, c, Julia or similar, and an interest in the technical aspects of interacting with large datasets. They will travel to work with the LSST:UK team in Edinburgh and the Microsoft Azure team in Manchester.

Starting as soon as possible, the appointment may be held at 50% FTE for 9 months, or 100% FTE for 4.5 months. The funding limits the end date of the project to 30th June 2020.
