The School of Divinity of the University of St Andrews is undertaking two exciting, grant-funded projects and proposes to hire an Editor to be shared between them. The position is available until July 2022 beginning in January 2020, or as soon as possible thereafter.
The St Andrews Encyclopaedia of Theology project is creating a free, online encyclopaedia of academic theology. It will publish peer-reviewed research articles of approximately 12,000 words, written and maintained by senior scholars. More information may be found at the project website, www.saet.ac.uk.
The Science-Engaged Theology project promotes the exploration of a new generation of questions at the intersection of theology, religion, and the human and natural sciences. Background information may be found at the previous project website, https://set.wp.st-andrews.ac.uk/research-vision/.
In support of the Encyclopaedia, the editor will commission and edit articles, as well as assisting contributors in their engagement with the sciences.
In support of the Science-Engaged Theology project, the editor will manage and contribute to an online interdisciplinary resource on science and theology.
The successful applicant will possess a terminal degree in theology and have experience in multidisciplinary engagement between theology and the sciences. Ideal candidates will have demonstrable experience communicating scientific research across disciplinary boundaries and outside of academia, as well as their own research profile. Experience of editing or publishing is desirable.
