Research Fellow – AR2949HM

Applications are sought for a committed Post-doctoral Research Fellow to work with Dr Clarissa Melo Czekster conducting research for the Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council (BBSRC) funded project entitled "Dissecting the mechanism and regulation of bacterial secreted peptidases and their role in biofilms”.  The primary duties will be to characterise proteins and enzymes of interest as well as their roles in bacterial biofilms with a combination of biophysical and biochemical techniques (including x-ray crystallography, confocal microscopy, mass spectrometry, fast kinetics and isothermal titration calorimetry, to cite a few).  

 

The successful applicant will have (or be near to completion of) a PhD in biochemistry, structural biology or related field with expertise in protein chemistry. Preference will be given to candidates with experience characterizing enzyme structure and function.     

 

The post is available for 36 months starting 1 April 2024 or as soon as possible thereafter.
