The Ecological Project manager will take a lead role in delivering The St Andrews Green Corridors project. This project seeks to develop, enhance and link two key habitat corridors (Kinness Burn/Lade Braes and The North Haugh/Swiliken Burn) across the town of St Andrews, Fife. The work will aim to enhance habitat for biodiversity and implement a sustainable management plan for invasive species. Working in Partnership with the St Andrews Botanic Garden, the worker will head a small team that includes a Practical Conservation Worker and a Volunteer/Outreach worker who are based at the St Andrews Botanic Garden.
The project idea has been developed in response to: a) the University of St Andrews’ new Biodiversity Strategy which has been developed with partners to create a clear vision for conserving species and habitat across the town and campus, and b) the strategic priorities of St Andrews Botanic Gardens in developing active public and volunteering engagement in practical intervention for species conservation, habitat development and tackling invasive species. The project will be delivered by a partnership of landowners, managers and experts including University of St Andrews, St Andrews Botanic Garden, Fife Council, BugLife and SNH but also seek to engage with local businesses owning land, local residents with private gardens and local schools within the intervention area.
