Clinical Teaching Fellow - ScotGEM Agents of Change Lead - AO1529HM

The University of St Andrews is pleased to invite applications for the part-time ScotGEM Agents of Change Lead (ScotGEM AoC Lead).  The overall purpose of this role is to lead the development and implementation of the student selected aspect of new ScotGEM MBChB programme. This is an educational leadership role and the post holder will be expected to champion a high quality educational experience for students with a strong focus on Quality Improvement. This role will constitute a vital link between the medical schools and the NHS across all four years of the curriculum.

This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a new MBChB Programme for Scotland and to help develop part of a curriculum designed to create future ‘Agents of Change’ in health care.  ScotGEM AoC Lead is a part-time role, with a focus on education in quality improvement science, the details of which will be formed, in part, by the skills and qualifications of the successful candidate.  It is expected that the post may be of interest to clinicians in either primary or secondary care, existing university staff or NHS managers with Healthcare Improvement and teaching experience.  The successful candidate will be central to the design, development and implementation of this innovative aspect of the course which unifies five Vertical Themes that span all years of the new ScotGEM MBChB.  See http://medicine.st-andrews.ac.uk/graduate-entry-medicine/.   The key duties are listed below, but will evolve as the ScotGEM Programme moves from planning phase (first student matriculation in Sep 2018) to steady state in 2022. The role will include some direct teaching as well as leadership and organisational aspects.

For NHS Consultant or Specialty & Associate Specialist doctor level, presently working in the NHS we are able to offer four PA’s for this post but arrangements for release from duties during the working week must be in place (e.g. not EPA’s).

This post is fixed term for 2 years in the first instance.

The University is committed to equality for all, demonstrated through our working on diversity awards (ECU Athena SWAN/Race Charters; Carer Positive; LGBT Charter; and Stonewall).  More details can be found at http://www.st-andrews.ac.uk/hr/edi/diversityawards/.
