The
University of St Andrews is seeking to enhance its teaching and research
strengths in statistics by appointing a new Lecturer, initially on a 4-year
fixed term contract. The successful candidate
will be a scholar with a growing international research reputation and commitment
to delivering high quality teaching. We
welcome applications from across the broad spectrum of statistics, and
particularly from candidates whose research could link with existing statistical
strengths in St Andrews, including ecological and environmental statistics, medical
statistics, statistical ‘omics’, and experimental design.
Candidates should hold a PhD in statistics or a closely
related discipline. Excellent teaching
skills are essential; experience in statistics module development will be an
advantage, as will demonstrable ability to work in a team.
This
research and teaching position is intended partly to cover a 4-year teaching
replacement, which may itself be renewed, and so there is the possibility of a
longer-term position with the School.
For informal enquiries, we encourage those
considering applying to contact the Head of School, Professor Mark Chaplain (mathshos@st-andrews.ac.uk), co-Head of the Statistics
Division, Professor Len Thomas (len.thomas@st-andrews.ac.uk), or the Deputy
Head of School, Dr Antonia Wilmot-Smith (aws37@st-andrews.ac.uk).
We are fully committed to equality and diversity
in our recruitment and employment policies.
We operate family-friendly hours for core meetings and are happy to
discuss flexible working arrangements for staff.
Applications are particularly welcome from
women, people from the Black, Asian, and Minority Ethnic (BAME) community and
other protected characteristics who are underrepresented in Academic posts at
the University.
The University of St Andrews is committed to
equality for all, demonstrated though our working on diversity awards (ECU
Athena SWAN/Race Charters; Carer Positive; LGBT Charter and Stonewall). More details can be found at https://www.st-andrews.ac.uk/hr/edi/diversityawards/.
