This exciting role
involves connecting and working across disciplines and sectors to trigger and
build societal and collaborative action to address major challenges for the
ocean environment and the planet. Rooted in Scotland’s marine science
community, MASTS and the University of St Andrews wish to better leverage the
potential of collaborations between science disciplines, particularly between
marine science and the social sciences, and between sectors (e.g. with art and
tech sectors).
Knowledge of major
challenges to, and sustainable solutions for, the marine environment are
essential. Experience across a broad range of issues and disciplines will be
beneficial, with experience in the social sciences and public engagement desirable.
Above all, candidates require a passion and ambition for the ocean and a
sustainable future for all.
This is a part-time
(job-share) role, starting as soon as possible and running until the end of
July 2022. There is potential for the role to develop into a full-time position
or to be extended, depending on success in sourcing new funding.
While Covid-risks
remain, it is likely that this position will initially be fulfilled through
remote/home-working. As circumstances ease there will be the option to take up
office space at the Scottish Oceans Institute; continuation of home-working may
be possible, although availability for occasional meetings/events in St Andrews
and other Scottish locations will be a necessary.
Further information and informal enquiries may
be directed to Chris Leakey, cdbl1@st-andrews.ac.uk.
Applications
are particularly welcome from women, people from the Black, Asian, and Minority
Ethnic (BAME) community and other protected characteristics who are
under-represented in professional services posts at the University.
The University is committed to equality for
all, demonstrated through accreditation (Athena SWAN;
Carer Positive;
Stonewall, LGBT and Race Charters), as listed on: http://www.st-andrews.ac.uk/hr/edi/diversityawards/.
This role does not meet the minimum requirements set by the UKVI to
enable sponsorship of migrant workers. Further information can be found
