We are looking for a proactive, enthusiastic and skilled individual with knowledge of the academic research process and experience of data collection and analysis to join our project team across three institutions: University of Edinburgh, University of Glasgow and University of St Andrews.
Research Organisations encourage good practice in data sharing to increase transparency of research, ensure research integrity, and maximise the public benefit of research. Data sharing is a policy requirement of many research organisations and funders and the use of data availability statements is encouraged to enable links between related research outputs and research data. Despite encouragements and requirements, many researchers are still not sharing their data openly or accessibly. The project ‘Driving good practice in data sharing and use of data availability statements to support funder requirements’ aims to understand and break down some of the perceived barriers to making data publicly available and to improve data findability.
The post holder, under the guidance of the project leadership team, will contribute to collecting, collating and analysing data on research data sharing practices and data availability statements. They will draft projects outputs such as case studies and guidance documents for institutions and act as the primary contact for the project co-ordinating its activities. The post, while based in the Open Research team (Libraries & Museums) at the University of St Andrews, will require travel across the three institutions.
This project is funded as part of the InFrame Culture Catalyst Fund which aims to improve collegial research leadership and research culture through innovative, collaborative projects.
