The
University of St Andrews is seeking to enhance its teaching and research
strengths in Mathematics and Statistics by appointing a new Lecturer. The successful candidate will be a scholar
with a growing international research reputation and commitment to delivering
high quality teaching. While
applications are invited from individuals with an interest in Applied Mathematics, Pure Mathematics and Statistics, our preference is to broaden the
School’s expertise in the field of Statistics. We would therefore particularly
welcome applications from candidates whose research could link with existing statistical
strengths in St Andrews, including Ecological and Environmental Statistics, Medical Statistics, Statistical ‘omics’, and Experimental Design.
Candidates should hold a PhD in Mathematics, Statistics or a cognate discipline. Excellent
teaching skills and an enthusiasm for promoting knowledge exchange are
essential. You should also have
familiarity with grant seeking processes in relation to research councils and
other sources.
For informal enquiries, we encourage those
considering applying to contact the Head of School, Professor Mark Chaplain (mathshos@st-andrews.ac.uk) or the Deputy Head of School, Professor
Ineke De Moortel (idm2@st-andrews.ac.uk).
We are fully committed to equality and diversity
in our recruitment and employment policies.
We operate family-friendly hours for core meetings and are happy to
discuss flexible working arrangements for staff.
Applications are particularly welcome from
women, people from the Black, Asian, Minority or Ethnic (BAME) community and
other protected characteristics who are underrepresented in Academic posts at
the University.
The University of St Andrews is committed to
equality for all, demonstrated though our working on diversity awards (ECU
Athena SWAN/Race Charters; Carer Positive; LGBT Charter and Stonewall). More details can be found at https://www.st-andrews.ac.uk/hr/edi/diversityawards/.
