The School of Geography and Sustainable Development is seeking to appoint a Lecturer in Spatial Data Science. We are looking for candidates with excellent research profiles and enthusiasm for research-led teaching and communication across the spectrum of geography and sustainable development, Geographical Information Science (GIScience), and remote sensing. We would welcome applications from candidates whose spatial data expertise broaches social issues and/or society-environment linkages.
You will have completed a PhD in Geography, GIS, Remote Sensing or a related area, and have specialist research interests and teaching expertise in spatial data science and related in-depth knowledge of relevant GIS and remote sensing techniques, software and programming. We seek candidates whose work is oriented towards social issues and/or society-environment relations. The successful candidate will be expected to have a range of interests, to be active in research publication that strengthens or complements the School’s strategic aims, and be capable of teaching undergraduate and taught postgraduate students from a wide range of backgrounds, and nurturing early career researchers. Experience of teaching within the Scottish university system would be an advantage. You should also have familiarity with grant seeking processes in relation to research councils and other national and international sources.
Informal enquiries can be directed to: Prof Dan Clayton, gsdhos@st-andrews.ac.uk, or Dr Sharon Leahy, gsddot@st-andrews.ac.uk.
Applications are particularly welcome from people from the Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic (BAME) community and other protected characteristics who are under-represented in Geography and Sustainable Development posts at the University.
