Janitor - MC1226RH

St Andrews University Estates Department currently have a vacancy for one full-time permanent janitor. The position will report to the one of three Senior Janitors based throughout the University. You will be a well-motivated team player and able to meet the varying requirements of the post which include general Janitors duties, ceremonial and other duties associated with a higher educational environment.  Experience of using IT systems including e-mail along with clearly demonstrated communication skills and a current and valid UK driving licence are essential.  Uniform will be supplied and worn.   Janitor services are provided at 3 locations – (Porters’ Lodge/93 North Street), which is combined with St Mary’s and at North Haugh.  North Haugh has a team of 4 Janitors supervised by a Senior Janitor and Porters’ Lodge and St Mary’s have 10 Janitors combined and two Senior Janitors. Each area carries out various duties, some of which may differ depending on the requirements and characteristics of the location. Janitors can be required to work in any of the three areas.   The Janitor rotational shift system will vary from an early shift, day shift and back shift, starting at 07.00 Hrs. to 15.15 Hrs.   0800 Hrs. to 16.15 Hrs. and 14.15 Hrs. to 22.00 Hrs. The working week is Monday to Friday with some requirements for working overtime at weekends, Exams, and Graduation.   This is a permanent full-time post 36.25 hours per week. 35 days annual leave: and a contributory pension scheme.   Any informal enquiries should be addressed to the Bedellus Bedellus@st-andrews.ac.uk and interviews will be held at a nominated date thereafter.
