This is a rare and exciting opportunity to join a team of technical specialists supporting the delivery of research at the world renowned Sea Mammal Research Unit. We are seeking a flexible and motivated individual who will provide support to a wide range of research activities with a focus on supporting the aerial surveys required to monitor seal populations in the UK. The post holder will also be expected to assist and support a wide range of SMRU research activities.
Key tasks will include:
- Assisting with aerial survey to monitor seal populations
- Processing data from aerial survey images
- Supporting other fieldwork activities as required, including time spent away from home in remote environments
- Supporting pool studies
- General workshop duties
Skills and attributes required include:
- Experience of practical research or survey work
- A well organised, self motivated person with attention to detail
- A willingness to be flexible and learn new techniques
- Ability to work within a team as well as individually
- Full UK driving licence
The post is available for 12 months starting as soon as possible. This post may be extended beyond this subject to funding.
