Development Assistant (Research) - CG1406

The remit of the Development Office is to develop and strengthen the University's position at the forefront of teaching, learning and research by inspiring active participation, investment and loyalty to St Andrews. We do this through fundraising for key University priorities and developing mutually beneficial relations with over 71,000 alumni, friends and benefactors worldwide.

We are seeking a well-organised and highly motivated individual to undertake prospect research in support of the University’s successful and well-established major giving and events programme.   The Development Assistant (Research) will work closely with colleagues in the major giving, events and database teams to identify and provide high quality information on prospective major donors and supporters for cultivation events and briefings in advance of meetings. The role holder will also use several research tools to identify prospective new donors, including undertaking research into individuals in the UK, USA and across the world.

Database work is required and training in the use of the Raiser’s Edge database will be provided. Careful attention to detail, discretion in handling confidential material and a good understanding of the importance of fundraising in the higher education sector are also essential.

The role will sit within the Prospect Research team and report directly to the Development Officer (Research). It is primarily based at Walter Bower House, Eden Campus, with the flexibility of home working approximately 50% of contracted hours.

Employees of the University have access to a wide range of staff benefits including:

  • Membership of the S&LAS Pension Scheme with generous employer contributions
  • A hybrid working environment, including partial homeworking where appropriate and a range of family friendly policies, supporting work-life balance
  • Staff discount scheme for local and national goods and services
  • Free staff parking, employee Carshare and Cycle to Work Schemes and subsidised local bus travel
  • Subsidised sports membership, reduced tuition fees on degree programmes for staff, access to training and development opportunities including LinkedIn Learning, access to library facilities, salary sacrifice scheme
  • 30 Days Annual Leave plus 5 Public Holidays.
