Associate Lecturer (Education Focused) in Chinese Studies – AO1815MR

The School of Modern Languages invites applications for the position of Associate Lecturer (Education Focused) in Chinese Studies.  You should have previous teaching experience, full professional competency in Chinese and English, and experience in the delivery of classes in Chinese language and, ideally, in Chinese-language literature and culture.

 

This post will play a crucial part in the development of the School’s undergraduate Chinese Studies programme. The focus of the programme is on language acquisition from ab initio and prior learner levels in year 1 complemented by a suite of modules in Chinese cultural studies (literature, visual culture, and cultural and intellectual history). The particular responsibility of this post will be in the delivery of high-quality modules in Chinese language. You will be expected to collaborate with colleagues within the Department to develop an exciting and distinctive curriculum that will establish the University as a major player in the field of Chinese Studies.

 

Candidates should hold a PhD in a cognate discipline. An ability to contribute to teaching Chinese texts on the School’s comparative literature programme is also desirable.
