Analytical Laboratory Technician - TG1099MXML

The School of Chemistry is looking to recruit a Technician for 12 months starting as soon as possible.  The position has become available to cover maternity leave of the current employee.

St Andrews School of Chemistry is a dynamic teaching and research environment with ~38 Academic staff, ~140 PhD students and 80 PDRAs. 

We have a range of analytical equipment used to support the research activity of the School. These include:

Thermal Gravimetric Analysis:
Differential Thermal Analysis
Differential Scanning Calorimetry
Thermal Gravimetric Analysis-Mass spectroscopy
Porosimetry/BET
Dilatometry
Inductively coupled plasma (ICP)-mass spectroscopy.

Interested applicants do NOT need to have expertise with all of the above instruments, however they should be familiar with some aspects of instrumentation for chemicals and/or materials analysis. The successful applicant will be line managed by Professor Alex Slawin. The key purpose of the role will be to support the analysis service within the School, by measuring samples from the Ph.D and postdoctoral community and to engage with external engineers involved in the maintenance of instruments within the current facility.
