The University of St Andrews is looking for a highly motivated individual to join a new bibliometrics service, ideally bringing expertise and insight in bibliometric data for monitoring the reach, performance and quality of our research outputs. You will join Research and Innovation Services as we develop this new service and work closely with colleagues across the University to support institutional strategic planning.
Under the leadership of the Head of Open Research, a key priority will be engagement with our academic community, contributing to a healthy research culture and implementation of our principles for the responsible use of metrics in research evaluation and management. You will support the Research Data Manager to spread expertise across professional services, undertaking and sharing results of analysis in areas such as alternative metrics, citation trends, collaboration and disciplinary profiles.
The ideal candidate will be self-motivated, a confident communicator with experience of using complex data sources and applying bibliometrics in an HE/research context. You will have some knowledge of the indicators used in bibliometrics and altmetrics, including their benefits and limitations, and the potential to make best use of tools such as SciVal. The post is for 2 years in the first instance.
