School of Psychology and Neuroscience, Salary: by negotiation, Start: 1 August 2019 or as soon as possible thereafter
We are seeking to appoint a Professor in any area related to our research theme of Perception, Cognition and Action (see: in the School of Psychology & Neuroscience at the University of St Andrews. This is a permanent appointment with a start date of August 1st, 2019, or as soon as possible thereafter. Candidates should hold a PhD in a cognate discipline and have a clear track record of excellence in research and teaching in an area related to Perception, Cognition and Action. The successful candidate will be expected to establish a world-leading research group in St Andrews, contribute to the development and delivery of teaching at all levels, and fulfill leadership roles within and beyond the School of Psychology & Neuroscience.

The School of Psychology & Neuroscience comprises in the region of 40 academic staff, with wide ranging research interests. The School ensures that all academic staff have both the time and facilities to develop their research. As a result of this support, the School is successful in gaining external research grants from diverse sources, including research councils, charities, and industry.

The strategy of the School has been to build up strong research groups whose members support and collaborate with each other. Our research covers a broad remit, from cellular neuroscience to crowd behavior. We have 4 broad groupings: Perception Cognition and Action, Cellular and Developmental Neuroscience, Origins of Mind, and Social and Group Processes. Our researchers collaborate across these different research themes, as well as collaborating through the University’s interdisciplinary research centres and institutes.
