Research Laboratory Manager - TG1197SB

The School of Medicine wishes to recruit a Research Laboratory Manager to ensure that our research laboratories are safe, well managed and cost effective.  The lab manager will work in conjunction with academic staff to ensure the smooth running of the laboratories and contribute to the planning and arrangement of facilities.  

The role holder will be responsible for carrying out all laboratory safety inductions for both staff and students and any additional training on specific pieces of equipment as necessary.  

The role holder will develop and maintain a database of all laboratory equipment and high on the role holder’s priorities will be efficiency in the replacement of time expired equipment.  Working with the Procurement Officer and Building Officer the role holder will arrange service contracts, repairs, monitoring and planned preventative maintenance of the equipment.  

Applicants should demonstrate significant knowledge and experience of lab safety with a background in Higher Education research labs, industrial or commercial research environments. They will also be expected to assist staff and students with the completion of risk assessments and relevant safety documentation. The successful candidate will also be a team player and have the ability to build relationships at all levels, across the team and with other colleagues across the University.
