Salary: £41,526 - £51,034 per annum pro rata,
Start Date: 6th April 2021,
Fixed Term: 3 years,
Hours of work: 21.75 hours per week
Reporting to the Joint Directors of The Byre, Kally Lloyd-Jones and
Jessica Richards, and the St Andrews Film Festival Steering Committee, and working in close collaboration with colleagues in Film Studies, the
University’s Development Office and other groups across the University, the
Curator will develop, refine and implement the University’s vision for the growth
of the St Andrews Film Festival and help secure funding to make it a reality. The Curator will be highly experienced,
skilled and motivated, with excellent connections in the film and screen
culture industries.
This new three-day annual festival will develop the importance of
Scotland as a place for making film and enhance that capacity in Scotland by
developing skills, industry connections at a high level, and provoking ideas
about screen cultures that resonate locally and in Scotland. The inaugural festival will be in April 2022.
The Curator will have overall responsibility for the day to day running,
management and leadership of the Film Festival, including programming,
administration and finance, supported operationally by the Byre Theatre. This
will include finding a roster of quality films, developing participatory and
community activities, communicating with filmmakers to elicit their
participation in the film festival, managing agreements, and developing
ancillary events and content. With the entire canvas of screen and moving
image culture available to you, the screenings and associated events will
demonstrate your enthusiasm and expertise across a wide range of form and genre
while offering audiences routes to engagement through innovative approaches to
exhibition and presentation.
Training in the use of University specific systems and processes is
available.
Candidates interested in having an informal discussion about the role
prior to submitting an application should contact Kally Lloyd-Jones: email
