We require a full-time mass spectrometry
technician to provide support to collaborative projects between Dr
Clarissa Czekster (School of Biology), Professor David Harrison (School of
Medicine) and NuCana plc which is headquartered in Edinburgh. The work will
entail routine analysis of biological samples to contribute to NuCana’s early
Drug Discovery and Drug Development studies. Primary responsibilities will
revolve around a Waters Q-ToF Xevo X2G recently acquired and used for
metabolite identification and quantification
The successful candidate will possess
a science-based education or equivalent work experience/related degree in Chemistry,
Pharmaceutical Sciences, biochemistry, or any relevant qualification. They will
have considerable science-based technical experience to support a range of
laboratory procedures including the operation and maintenance of specialist
analytical equipment. Working as a team member, the technician will be a highly
organized individual with a positive approach to managing dealing with
collaborators and other project participants.
The candidate will provide technical assistance in the
preparation and running of samples by LC-MS as well as maintenance of the
instruments.
The candidate will receive all the necessary training and
protocols to carry out analysis of samples.
Prior industrial experience
in liquid chromatography and mass spectrometry techniques is essential, and familiarity with regulatory guidelines such as Good Laboratory Practice
(GLP) and Good Clinical Practice (GCP) is highly desirable.
Reliable, creative, knowledgeable and hard-working,
capable of delivering high-quality data in a timely manner, the successful
applicant will have all the necessary support from the supervisor, the group,
and their collaborators, but you will be expected to be able to work
independently and as part of a team as required. Problem-solving skills and
scientific rigour are essential traits.
This is a full time position on a fixed term contract until 31 January
2024.
