Administrative Assistant – CG1753SB

The School of Biology at the University of St Andrews is a multi-site School and one of the leading departments of Biology in the UK. To fully embrace our biodiversity, the School’s research and degree programmes cover all aspects of Biology, including Biomolecular Sciences, Cell and Systems Biology, Evolution and Animal Behaviour and Marine Biology.

The Centre for Biological Diversity (CBD) builds on St Andrews' strengths in fundamental and applied research into the origins and maintenance of biological diversity. The Centre weaves together traditionally separate strands of research, such as evolution, behaviour, ecology, molecular biology and biodiversity to advance the science that underpins the diversity of life and contributes pro-actively to policy that protects it.

The School of Biology and its Centre for Biological Diversity are now seeking to appoint an Administrative Assistant to work both across the School of Biology and within the CBD administrative office. Half of the role will be to support the CBD administrator with general enquiries and the day-to-day running of the office and the other half of the role will be to assist the Head and Deputy Head of School, School Manager and administrative staff across the School’s three research Centre buildings and the teaching office.

The post requires a good level of administrative proficiency and a high level of commitment and responsibility. The post will be varied and you will require considerable organisational and communication skills (both oral and written), also IT competence including use of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and Office 365. Some financial management experience would be desirable. You must be able to work both on your own initiative and as part of a team.
